"Sultans do Swing" foi o primeiro single da banda britânica Dire Straits.

Gravado inicialmente como uma demo, que rapidamente adquiriu vida própria e um estatuto de notoriedade, depois de ela ter sido colocada em rotação na Radio London.

Não demorou muito para a popularidade se encontrar com os Dire Straits, tendo-lhes sido oferecido um contrato com a Phonogram.

A canção foi então regravada e lançada simultaneamente no Reino Unido e nos Estados Unidos, embora a versão demo permanecesse no original britânico da Vertigo.

Top Ten nos EUA e no Reino Unido, o single fez com que o primeiro álbum dos Dire Straits fosse um sucesso.

O formação inicial dos Dire Straits era bem simples: duas guitarras, um baixista, e uma bateria.
