Deven Sharma

President

Deven Sharma is President of Standard & Poor’s, a division of The McGraw-Hill Companies, and the world’s foremost source of financial market intelligence, providing independent credit ratings, indices, risk evaluation, investment research and data. Mr. Sharma joined S&P in 2007 as executive vice president, Investment Service and Global Sales. Prior to joining S&P, Mr. Sharma was executive vice president, Global Strategy at The McGraw-Hill Companies for five years.

Deven joined The McGraw-Hill Companies in January 2002 from Booz-Allen & Hamilton, a global management consulting company, where he was a partner. During his 14 years with that firm, he provided guidance to client companies on business strategy and globalization, as well as on branding and sales management. Much of his experience includes work with global corporations in U.S., Latin America, Europe and parts of Asia. Prior to Booz-Allen, Deven worked with manufacturing companies, Dresser Industries and Anderson Strathclyde.

Deven holds a bachelor's degree from the Birla Institute of Technology in India, a master's degree from the University of Wisconsin and a doctoral degree in Business Management from Ohio State University.

Deven has authored several publications on competitive strategy, customer solutions, sales and marketing. He is a Board member of 800-Flowers Inc., CRISIL, The US-China Business Council and Asia Society Business Council.


Pat Milano

Executive Vice President, Operations Services

Patrick Milano was named executive vice president of Operations Services at Standard & Poor’s in December 2007. In this senior role, with oversight for finance, strategy, business development, information technology, communications, marketing and risk management, he is responsible for a variety of initiatives across Standard & Poor’s that strengthen the organization’s business processes, compliance processes and growth agenda.

Pat has held a number of financial positions throughout The McGraw-Hill companies since joining as an accountant for the McGraw-Hill Book Company in 1981. Most recently, he served as senior vice president, Finance and Administration, for Standard & Poor’s. Before that, Pat served as senior vice president, Finance and Administration, for Standard & Poor’s Credit Market Services; and vice president, Finance and Administration, for Standard & Poor’s Investment Services. Pat was honored by The McGraw-Hill Companies with a 2002 Excellence in Management Award.

Pat holds an M.B.A. from Monmouth University, a B.A. in Economics from Rutgers University and is a Certified Public Accountant.


Tony Angel

Executive Managing Director, EMEA

Tony Angel is executive managing director, Head of Europe, Middle East and Africa, at Standard & Poor’s.

In this newly created position, he is a member of S&P’s global operating committee and responsible for managing and developing S&P’s activities across the EMEA region – spanning credit research and ratings, investment indices, independent equity and fund research, fixed income risk management services and a network of offices in 10 countries.

Prior to joining S&P in June 2008, Tony was for 32 years at Linklaters, the global law firm, first as a corporate tax lawyer, partner and global head of tax, and then for almost a decade as Firmwide Managing Partner.

Tony holds an M.A. from Queens’ College, Cambridge, and is a qualified Solicitor.


Rita Bolger

Senior Vice President and Associate General Counsel, Global Regulatory Affairs

Rita M. Bolger is Senior Vice President, Global Regulatory Affairs and Associate General Counsel for Standard & Poor’s and has served as head of Global Regulatory Affairs since December 2001. Standard & Poor’s, a division of The McGraw-Hill Companies, Inc., is a global leader in providing independent credit rating opinions, research, investment data, and analytical services. Ms. Bolger has global responsibility for Standard & Poor’s relationships and policies with respect to government and regulatory authorities, as well as legal regulatory issues for Standard & Poor’s regulated business units.

Ms. Bolger is a member of Standard & Poor’s Operating Committee and Enterprise Risk Oversight Committee. Prior to assuming her current position, Ms. Bolger was Managing Director and Associate General Counsel for Standard & Poor’s Ratings Services where she had worldwide responsibility for Ratings Services’ legal regulatory affairs. She joined Standard & Poor’s in 1990 and held positions in the Ratings Services’ legal department responsible for many aspects of the ratings business.

Prior to joining Standard & Poor’s, Ms. Bolger was associated with the law firm of Dechert, Price & Rhoads where she advised Standard & Poor’s on many aspects of the ratings business.

Ms. Bolger is a member of the TriBar Legal Opinion Committee and holds a bachelors degree in Government from Smith College and a law degree from Tulane University School of Law.


Paul Coughlin


Executive Managing Director, Corporates and Government Ratings

Paul Coughlin is the executive managing director of Standard & Poor’s Global Corporate & Government Ratings group. The group includes Standard & Poor’s Global Corporate, Financial Services, Public Finance, and Sovereign ratings groups.

Paul began his ratings career in 1988 with Australian Ratings, which Standard & Poor's acquired in 1990. He has had first-hand involvement in rating corporations, banks, governments, mutual funds, securitizations, and project financings. In 1995, Paul moved to Hong Kong to establish Standard & Poor’s Hong Kong office and was a founding director of Taiwan Ratings Corp., a joint venture with Standard & Poor's in Taiwan.

Returning to analytical practice in 1998, Paul assumed Asia Pacific regional responsibility for Infrastructure and Public Finance Ratings, and in subsequent years, he assumed additional responsibility for Corporate, Sovereign, and Financial Services ratings. Moving to Singapore in 2003, Paul became manager of the broader Corporate and Governments group in Asia upon reorganization of the region's management. He assumed global leadership of the group and relocated to New York in 2005.

Prior to his ratings career, Paul worked in economic policy and administrative roles in the Australian government, including as a staff member for then Treasurer and now former Prime Minister, the Hon. John W. Howard. He subsequently spent six years in merchant and investment banking. Paul holds a Bachelor of Economics degree from Australia's Monash University and a Master's degree in Business Administration from Melbourne University.


Lou Eccleston

Executive Managing Director, Fixed-Income & Securities Services, and Global & Client Services

Lou Eccleston is executive managing director at Standard & Poor’s, a division of The McGraw-Hill Companies, Inc., and the leading provider of objective financial information, ratings and risk analysis to the global financial community. In this capacity, he holds a dual role as head of Global Sales and Client Service as well as Fixed Income and Risk Management Services, which provides Standard & Poor’s research, data and analytics in the fixed income market to global financial professionals.

Prior to joining Standard & Poor’s in 2008, Lou was chairman and chief executive officer of Pivot Inc., a leading provider of communications networks for institutional investors. Previously, he served as president of Global Sales, Marketing and Services for Thomson Financial, leading the integration of separate sales, service and marketing operations around the world into one globally coordinated entity. Lou was also president of the Banking and Brokerage division for Thomson Financial, their largest business operating group at the time, where he led the development and launch of Thomson ONE. Lou also spent 14 years as a managing director with Bloomberg L.P., where he helped build sales and customer service initiatives for the desktop, trading systems, the electronic brokerage business and media operations.

Lou holds a B.A. in Economics from Drew University and an M.B.A. in Finance from La Salle University.


Joe Held

Senior Vice President, Information Technology

Joe Held, senior vice president and chief information officer for Standard & Poor’s, brings more than 20 years of experience in information technology - focusing on business reengineering; business acquisitions/new ventures; application development and information architecture; and technology strategy and implementation. He currently has responsibility for global business systems S&P-wide.

Before joining S&P, Joe was the vice president of Technology Services at Hartford Life Insurance, reporting to the CIO, responsible for setting the technology strategy for the individual Annuity business in Japan. Joe was also the executive responsible for Investment Technology Services at Hartford Life for five years, where he established an industry-leading technology service for the Annuity and Mutual Funds lines of businesses. Joe worked at CIGNA HealthCare from 1995 to 1997 as the assistant vice president of Application and Information Architecture and worked in a variety of IT roles for several Aetna Life and Casualty businesses from 1983. At Aetna, Joe led the delivery of expert systems to support a new generation of Aetna health insurance products and was a co-recipient of a technology patent for expert systems. He also worked in Aetna's Diversified Business division supporting a partnership with MIT in developing satellite communication systems.

Joe has a Bachelor of Arts degree from Rutgers University and has conducted graduate work at University of Massachusetts, Amherst.


Torsten Hinrichs
Managing Director, Frankfurt

Torsten Hinrichs is managing director, the McGraw-Hill Companies GmbH and the Fund Services GmbH in Germany. In addition to his direct responsibility for German speaking Europe as well as Central and Eastern Europe, Torsten also heads the regional network consisting of seven offices in Europe.

Torsten also serves as member of the S&P European Governance Council and Ratings Services’ European Executive Committee.

Torsten Hinrichs joined Standard & Poor's as managing director in 1999. He was previously with Westdeutsche Landesbank for 15 years and has gained a wealth of experience in Capital Markets, Global Derivatives /Fixed Income and Global Treasury. He was based in Düsseldorf, London, New York and Hong Kong, where he was Head of Treasury.

Torsten Hinrichs holds a diploma (Dipl.-Kaufmann) in Economics from University of Hamburg.


David Jacob

Executive Managing Director, Structured Finance Ratings

David P. Jacob is executive managing director of Standard & Poor’s Global Structured Finance Ratings group. The group includes Standard & Poor’s CMBS, RMBS, ABS, CDO, and Surveillance ratings groups worldwide.

David, who joined Standard & Poor’s in August 2008, has nearly 30 years of experience in fixed income investment analysis and the structured finance markets. During his career, David has worked with a number of well-known financial institutions, including 14 years with Nomura Securities International where he was head of Structuring and Fixed Income Research, U.S.; and later managing director, head of International Fixed Income Research.

Through the 1980s and ‘90s David served as managing director, head of Fixed Income Research, at JPMorgan and before that as a vice president at Morgan Stanley in a variety of areas in fixed income, including trading and quantitative analytics. Prior to joining Standard & Poor’s, David was a principle with Adelson & Jacob Consulting, a structured finance consulting firm. He began his career as an analyst at Moody’s Investor Service and Equitable Life Assurance.

David received an M.B.A. in Finance and Accounting and an M.S. in Mathematics from New York University.


Catherine Mathis

Senior Vice President, Marketing and Communications

Catherine J. Mathis was named senior vice president of marketing and communications for Standard & Poor’s in September 2009. Ms. Mathis’s responsibilities include global marketing, public relations and employee communications. She is a member of S&P’s senior management team and serves as its primary spokesperson.

Previously, Ms. Mathis had been senior vice president of corporate communications for The New York Times Company since 2007. Before that, Ms. Mathis had been vice president of corporate communications for The New York Times Company since 2000 and director, investor relations since 1997.

From 1992 to 1997, Ms. Mathis was vice president of corporate relations at the Overseas Shipholding Group, Inc. where she was responsible for investor relations, media relations, public relations, employee communications and event planning. Previously she held various management positions at International Paper Company.

In 2006 Ms. Mathis was named Communicator of the Year by the New York chapter of International Association of Business Communicators (IABC). The award is the chapter's highest award, recognizing integrity and excellence in everyday communications or in response to specific crises or challenges. In 2002 the YWCA of New York City selected her as one of its Women Achievers. Ms. Mathis graduated with honors from the University of Minnesota with a B.S. degree in business administration and an M.B.A. degree in marketing and management information systems.


Alex J. Matturri, Jr.

Executive Managing Director, Porfolio Services

Alex Matturri is responsible for all aspects of the Index and Portfolio Advisory businesses on a global basis. Standard & Poor's Index and Portfolio Services offers investment professionals around the world an array of choices, from efficiently representative indices to broadly comprehensive benchmarks

Prior to joining Standard and Poor’s in 2007, Alex was senior vice president and director of Global Equity Index Management at Northern Trust Global Investments. There he was in charge of all facets of passive equity portfolio management and trading, overseeing a $185 billion passive investment business for the world’s third-largest quantitative manager. He joined NTGI in 2003 with the company’s acquisition of the index and quantitative investment business of Deutsche Asset Management. At Deutsche, he served as director and the senior index investment strategist

From 1987 until joining Deutsche in 2000, Alex was vice president and division head at The Bank of New York, where he started and managed the Special Investment Products group which provided investment management, product development and trading for equity derivatives and quantitative strategies. His experience before The Bank of New York included risk arbitrage analyst at Donaldson, Lufkin & Jenrette and security analyst at First Fidelity Bank.

Alex has a BS in Finance, with honors, from Lehigh University and a JD from the Syracuse University College of Law.


William Okun

Executive Managing Director, Equity Research

William Okun is Executive Managing Director of S&P’s Equity Research Services business unit. Prior to this role, he was Executive Vice President of S&P’s Financial Data & Analytics business unit (FD&A) which consists of Capital IQ, Compustat, Clarifi, and Directories. Bill joined S&P when Capital IQ was acquired in 2004.

Prior to joining Capital IQ in 2000, Bill was a director at Sapient Corporation where he helped clients design and implement technology solutions focused on customer acquisition/retention and sales effectiveness.

Before joining Sapient, Bill was a senior consultant for Gemini Consulting where he designed and led strategic consulting projects focused on sales productivity for Fortune 1000 companies. Previously, he was a senior account executive for The Forum Corporation, a leading consulting firm that helps clients enhance their customer focus, sales effectiveness, and leadership development.

Bill received a B.A. from Amherst College in 1988 and an MBA from The Fuqua School of Business at Duke University in 1995.


Adam H. Schuman

Executive Managing Director and Associate General Counsel

Adam H. Schuman is executive managing director and associate general counsel, Standard & Poor’s Legal Affairs. Adam reports to Ken Vittor, executive vice president and general counsel, coordinating closely with Deven Sharma, president of Standard & Poor’s. Adam is a member of the Standard & Poor’s Operating Council.

Adam has a central role in managing and shaping S&P’s strategy in ratings-related matters arising out of recent market conditions. Adam manages the Ratings Services Legal Department including 16 attorneys globally. In addition, Adam provides ongoing legal counsel as S&P develops and implements further actions designed to strengthen its business and better serve the markets.

Before joining The McGraw-Hill Companies in 2003, Adam served as an Assistant U.S. Attorney in Brooklyn, New York, specializing in the prosecution of business and securities fraud crimes. He received a commendation from the U.S. Department of Justice acknowledging his work in that area. He also has taught on the subject of federal criminal prosecution as an adjunct professor at Brooklyn Law School.

Before joining the U.S. Attorney’s Office, Adam practiced civil litigation at the Manhattan law firms of Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton & Garrison and Corbin Silverman & Sanseverino, where he was elected to partnership. He also has served as law clerk to U.S. District Judge Loretta A. Preska in Manhattan.

Adam graduated with Honors from Swarthmore College and received his law degree from New York University, cum laude.


John Weisenseel

Senior Vice President, Finance

John Weisenseel joined Standard & Poor’s as chief financial officer in December 2007. He is responsible for the entire global finance organization for Standard & Poor’s. These responsibilities encompass all financial activities including budgeting, financial planning, acquisition valuations. John is a member of Standard & Poor’s Operating Council, Credit Market Services Executive Council, and the Enterprise Risk Management Committee.

John Weisenseel initially joined The McGraw-Hill Companies as senior vice president & treasurer in September 2004. In this role, he was responsible for all treasury, investor relations, retirement plan financing, and risk management activities. These included global cash and foreign currency risk management, banking, investors and rating agency relationship management in addition to all insurance activities. John was a member of the Pension Investment Committee, the secretary of the Financial Policy Committee and the president of the captive insurance company.

Before joining The McGraw-Hill Companies, John was VP & treasurer of Barnes & Noble, Inc. Prior to Barnes & Noble, John spent twelve years at Citigroup working in various capacities within treasury and on the trading floor within the investment banking division. John began his career with the accounting firm of KPMG, where he worked prior to attending graduate school. John received a M.B.A. with concentrations in finance and computer information systems from the University of Texas at Austin. He also received a B.B.A. with a major in accounting from Adelphi University. John is a Certified Public Accountant. John is a member of the editorial board for the Journal of Corporate Treasury Management, the conference planning committee for the National Forum on Corporate Finance and the New York Treasurers’ Group. In addition, he was recently named as one of the “100 Most Influential People in Finance for 2007” by Treasury & Risk Magazine.
